Fred please pass this along to everyone:

I want to thank all the Posts and Riders for their support, prayers and fundraisers helping us through these trying times. Bad Girl, Gwen, finally arrived back in AZ today! It was a tough haul but she is a trooper and made it. I flew to Lubbock on Friday and we flew home this morning. Again, thank you all so much. You will not be forgotten.

Thanks

Mark

Rick,
Please forward this to our Riders.
Thanks,
Carolyn
P.S.
for those of you who may not know,  Mark and Gwen Meyer, Post 36, Tucson, were in a terrible accident in May in Texas.  This email is from Mark with some positive news.  They have gone thru Hell to say the least.  Mark and Gwen are very active Legion Riders and PGR riders.  They have been to many of our gatherings for the past few years.  You may not know them by name, but I am sure you know them by sight.
God bless.

Subject: Update on Gwen and I

I wanted to let everyone know that things are looking much better. Gwen leaves the hospital tomorrow morning to begin intensive rehabilitation. She will stay in Lubbock for the rehab as the cost to get her home is ridiculous, Here is story: she no longer has tubes or IV's, her lungs are almost clear and her trache has been removed, However, she still cannot transfer, walk or run as she broke the tibia plateau, the area where the the tibia attaches to the knee. Her back is still in bad shape but will improve with help. Her shoulder is also still in need of intensive rehab as she cannot do much with her right arm yet. I am hoping that she will be out in 4-6 weeks but only she can determine the speed with which she leaves. Me, I'm doing well with some minor issues with my side. I plan on retuning to Tucson the week of 9/5 as I need to get back to work. I never thought that I would look forward to retuning to work, but after almost 4 months, I'm ready!

I want to thank all of you for your prayers and support during this horrific time. We only have kept our sanity and continue to get better because we know that there are many friends out there thinking of us. Thank you for those prayers and all your support.

Thanks

Well...
after a long...hard...extensive drive...dad and I are finally home...dad is in a lot of pain, but we made it here...

We were called from the Doc. that mom is doing much worse...she has fluid in her lungs-which they put in a chest tube....she has sepsis (a blood infection), and a heart infection...Jon headed straight over there...she was maybe going to come home next week (and to a nursing home...) but not now...

:<

Hope all is well and GOD bless you all...wish I had better news!

Laura

John,

This is a very hot topic on the Arizona forums on the PGR website.  We are getting almost daily updates on Mark and Gwen and are passing along our thoughts and prayers as well.  I’m copying our State Captain with your Poker Run info.  Thanks for passing this along.

Mark Meyer is both an American Legion Rider (Post 36, Tucson) and a very active PGR rider. About 4 weeks ago Mark and his wife Gwen had a motorcycle accident while on vacation in Texas. They were both severely injured, and have been in ICU since the accident in Texas.

I was hoping that PGR would send out a notice to its Arizona members about the accident, but have seen nothing. The American Legion Riders are having a poker run to benefit Mark & Gwen, who will have humongous medical bills, plus lost wages, and eventually the cost of bringing them home to Tucson.

ALR 36 (TUCSON) - BENEFIT POKER RUN FOR MARK & GWEN MEYER - 0900 HOURS
A benefit poker run for Mark & Gwen Mayer, ALR 36 (Tucson)will leave Post 36 (Tucson) at 0900 hours, and end at Post 24 (Tombstone). Mark & Gwen were seriously injured in a motorcycle accident while on vacation in Texas, and they are still in the hospital in Texas. Come and help you brother and sister with ever-mounting medical bills and expenses.

Please pass this on to the Arizona PGR riders. Thanks
